Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a series of major administrative and policy reforms aimed at promoting energy conservation, reducing fuel consumption, and encouraging the use of indigenous products.
As part of the new measures, a two-day work-from-home system will be implemented, and private companies will also be encouraged to adopt similar arrangements. The government has decided that 50% of official meetings will now be conducted online. For two days, 100% work-from-home will be enforced, with essential services exempted.
In a significant cost-cutting move, the government has ordered a 20% reduction in fuel allocation for the Labour Department and other departments. Ministers and MLAs will be encouraged to use public transport such as the metro and DTC buses. Foreign trips of ministers have also been put on hold.
The Chief Minister also announced that no major public events will be organized for the next three months. A 90-day campaign will be launched to promote “Made in India” products, with dedicated spaces for indigenous goods in malls and markets. Schools, hospitals, and marketplaces will host awareness programs under this initiative.
On the energy front, the Delhi government has prepared an electric vehicle policy, which will be implemented soon. In government offices, air conditioners will be set permanently between 24–26°C, and sensors will be installed to regulate electricity usage.
The campaign will officially begin on May 15, focusing on sustainability, cost reduction, and self-reliance.
