Continuing his third consecutive day of field visits to review preparations for Independence Day 2026, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday toured the Ferozepur and Bathinda Ranges and chaired extensive range-level law and order review meetings. The exercise was conducted in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The DGP instructed officers to maintain heightened vigilance and intensify preventive policing measures across the state.
“I have directed officers and personnel to increase patrolling, strengthen surveillance, ensure preventive policing, manage crowds effectively and respond swiftly to any emerging challenge,” he said.
In Ferozepur, DGP Yadav reviewed the security preparedness of the Ferozepur and Faridkot Ranges, with a special assessment of the districts of Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Fazilka, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Moga.
As part of the ground-level inspection, the DGP personally visited the high-tech police checkpoint at Talwandi Bhai in Ferozepur to assess operational readiness.
After completing the security review in Ferozepur and Faridkot Ranges, the DGP moved to Bathinda, where he chaired a comprehensive security review meeting with Bathinda Range officers.
Discussions focused on Independence Day policing plans, deployment of police personnel, security arrangements at event venues and public gathering sites, and preparedness to handle any contingency situation.
Giving a major push to technology-driven policing, DGP Gaurav Yadav also inaugurated the state-of-the-art Integrated Command and Control Centre of Bathinda Police, developed at a cost of ₹2.75 crore.
According to the DGP, the advanced facility integrates emergency response for 112 calls, city-wide CCTV surveillance through 282 cameras installed at 59 strategic locations, wireless connectivity, video analytics and real-time crime monitoring data. He said the new centre would significantly enhance the technological capabilities of Bathinda Police and strengthen overall policing support in the city.
Reiterating Punjab Police’s commitment to ensuring peaceful and secure Independence Day celebrations, the DGP emphasized the importance of proactive and people-centric policing so that citizens across the state can celebrate the national festival with confidence, pride and a strong sense of security.
