In a shocking incident, a man allegedly shot dead his father-in-law and brother-in-law after a heated argument at his residence. The victims had reportedly come to resolve an ongoing family dispute involving their daughter.

According to reports, the situation escalated during discussions, following which the accused, identified as Gurvinder Singh, opened fire in a fit of rage. Both victims collapsed on the spot as panic and chaos spread in the area. The deceased have been identified as Lakhbir Singh (father-in-law) and Jagseer Singh (brother-in-law).

SHO Major Singh stated that Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Basi Rasoli village in Patiala district, had married his daughter Veerpal Kaur to Gurvinder Singh of Shadihari. However, the marriage had been troubled, with frequent disputes between the couple.

On Wednesday night, as tensions escalated, Lakhbir Singh, along with his son Jagseer Singh, visited their daughter’s in-laws’ house to mediate and settle the conflict. During the discussion, Gurvinder Singh allegedly lost his temper, took out a pistol kept at home, and fired at both men.

Hearing the gunshots, locals rushed to the scene. The injured father and son were immediately taken to a nearby government hospital, but doctors declared them dead due to excessive blood loss and severe injuries.

Police reached the spot, sealed the crime scene, and called in a forensic team to collect evidence. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to trace the accused, who is currently absconding.

A case has been registered against the accused under charges of murder and relevant sections of the Arms Act. Police officials have stated that raids are being conducted at possible hideouts, and the accused will be arrested soon.
