Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Saturday launched the state government’s special cleanliness drive, “Mission Clean Punjab,” by personally participating in a cleaning activity at Thapar Chowk in Patiala.
The 10-day campaign will run from August 29 to September 7 across Punjab, with a focus on identifying and cleaning locations where garbage repeatedly accumulates. The government will prioritise the removal of Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) and take steps to prevent waste from piling up again.
Cabinet ministers and MLAs will actively participate in the campaign and lead cleanliness drives in their respective constituencies. Local residents will also be encouraged to join the initiative.
The government said the campaign aims not only to improve the cleanliness and appearance of cities but also to reduce health risks linked to poor sanitation and waste accumulation.
