Even blasts couldn't wake the AAP govt up from its deep slumber: Bajwa

Jalandhar, May 8

Following the second blast on Heritage Street on the way to the Golden Temple Amritsar within the span of just 32 hours, Punjab's Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday launched a scathing attack at the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government and said that even blasts couldn't wake the government up from its deep slumbers.

"The Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the portfolio of Home Minister, must explain why he couldn't beef up the security in the vicinity after the first blast in the same area that took place on Saturday night. The police had already suspected that it (the first blast) was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast using potassium nitrate and sulphur", Bajwa added.

Bajwa said that as per some media reports today's blast happened as an unidentified person hung the explosive substance, a bomb, with a thread from the Heritage Street parking lot.

In a statement, Bajwa said that his (CM's) priorities towards the deteriorated law and order situation of the state can be gauged from the fact that 2500 police personnel have been deployed for the entire population of Jalandhar district - 25 lakh people while 1200 security guards have been protecting CM and his family.  With such a big security cover Bhagwant has become the most protected CM, the Punjab has ever had.

"Bhagwant Mann is the most self-centred CM the state could ever have. What he cares about the most is his security, his lavish lifestyle, and his expensive dresses, and footwear", Bajwa added.

The opposition leader said the heritage street is the only passage that is used by the devotees and tourists to reach Darbar Sahib and other historical places including Jalianwala Bagh. If the AAP government cannot secure the surroundings of the most sacred place like Darbar Sahib, what else one can expect from the government?
