A blast occurred near the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters in Jalandhar on Monday evening, triggering panic in the surrounding area. The sound of the explosion was reportedly heard up to nearly one kilometre away.

According to initial information, the explosion took place in an Activa scooter allegedly associated with a Flipkart delivery worker. The individual had parked the scooter around 8:15 pm and entered the BSF headquarters premises to deliver a parcel. Shortly after, an explosion was heard from the parked vehicle.

Sources suggest that an explosive material kept inside the scooter may have detonated. However, officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the blast.

At the time of the incident, several people were present in the nearby vegetable market on the road leading from the BSF headquarters towards Gurunanakpura. The sudden loud explosion caused panic among shoppers, with many initially unable to understand what had happened.

Police teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and cordoned off the area. Security agencies, along with BSF personnel, are also present at the site. A detailed investigation has been launched, and authorities stated that the exact cause of the explosion will be confirmed only after the probe is completed.

This incident has revived memories of other suspicious occurrences that have recently taken place in the state. Just a few days ago, a blast occurred outside the BJP office in Chandigarh, putting security agencies on high alert.
