A fraud case has surfaced in Chandigarh amid the ongoing fuel giveaway campaign, popularly known as the "petrol langar." Authorities and organizers have detected counterfeit fuel coupons being used at a local petrol pump, prompting an immediate suspension of ₹2,500, ₹1,000 and ₹500 vouchers.
The incident came to light at Sidhu Petrol Pump in Sector 7, Chandigarh. Petrol pump operators noticed discrepancies between the coupons issued by businessman Rakesh Trehan, popularly known as "Raja D King," and the vouchers being presented for redemption. The original coupons were printed on thicker paper, while the suspicious ones were made from lighter-quality paper.
After noticing the difference, the pump operators contacted Raja D King, who personally visited the petrol station to inspect the vouchers. During the verification process, it was discovered that fake coupons in denominations of ₹2,500, ₹1,000 and ₹500 had been printed and circulated by unknown individuals.
Following the discovery, Raja D King instructed petrol pump operators to accept only ₹300 coupons until further notice. According to organizers, counterfeiters had not copied the ₹300 vouchers, making them the only valid coupons currently in circulation.
Meanwhile, Raja D King has also announced plans to distribute free iPhones to women after September 21. For this initiative, a WhatsApp group is being created for women and girls aged 18 and above. Interested participants have been asked to contact a designated phone number to be added to the group. After joining, members will be required to send the message “Jai Mata Di” in the group.
