The accident occurred near Karoigarh on the Ranabag–Dehuri road in the Ani Assembly constituency of Kullu district. According to officials, a car bearing registration number HP 92 A 4300 was hit by falling rocks from a hillside, causing the driver to lose control before the vehicle rolled down a steep gorge.

Mishap took place at around 10:15 am. The occupants have been identified as Dr. Brij Lal (60), a resident of Amarbagh in Ani, his wife Sunita (54), and their daughter Bhavya (18). Dr. Brij Lal and Sunita died on the spot, while Bhavya suffered injuries and was rushed to Ani Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

Dr. Brij Lal was serving at a private hospital in Rampur and was known for his medical services in the region.

Police reached the accident site soon after receiving information and launched relief and rescue operations. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Revenue officials, including the local Halqa Patwari, have also prepared a report and forwarded it to higher authorities.

Preliminary findings suggest that falling rocks from the hillside were the primary cause of the accident, though police are conducting a detailed probe to determine the exact circumstances.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed deep grief over the incident. In a condolence message posted on social media, he described the untimely death of Shrikhand Hospital doctor Brij Thakur and his wife as “extremely sad and heartbreaking” and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family.
