In a shocking incident, two young men were attacked with heavy gunfire while they were on their way to a hospital in Jalandhar. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, where one was declared dead, while the other remains critically injured and is undergoing treatment.
According to preliminary police investigation, the incident appears to be linked to an altercation that took place on June 11. Police said a quarrel between two groups had escalated into a violent clash a day earlier, during which one youth was seriously injured.
When the injured man was heading to the hospital the next day for dressing of his wounds, members of the rival group allegedly intercepted them and opened fire, spraying bullets at the victims.
SHO of Bhargav Camp police station said that around 5 to 7 attackers were involved in the assault. Police have identified some of the accused and assured that arrests will be made soon.
