A car driver from Haryana was allegedly robbed of ₹27,000 and his vehicle after he offered a lift to a woman near the Lohgarh traffic light. The woman had reportedly asked to be dropped at Sigma Chowk, but during the journey, her alleged accomplices entered the car and threatened the driver by accusing him of molestation.
According to police, the accused allegedly took ₹7,000 from the driver's pocket and forced him to transfer another ₹20,000 through Google Pay. They then allegedly held him captive and took him to Rajpura. The driver was later dropped near Patiala Chowk, while the accused allegedly fled with his Brezza car (HR-03Y-1845).
The incident was reported by Anil Kumar, a resident of Raipur Rani. Police have arrested four accused identified as Junaid Khan, Preetam Kaur alias Gurpreet Kaur, Sneha Rani and Lovely Sharma.
Police said the accused allegedly threatened to implicate the driver in a honey-trap case and used the threat to extort money from him. The Brezza car was also recovered based on information provided by Junaid Khan.
According to the police, Preetam Kaur has previously been booked in cases registered in Bathinda and Mansa, including a murder case. Police are examining the criminal records of the other accused as part of the ongoing investigation.
