A devastating road accident claimed the lives of four members of the same family from Sonipat on Friday while they were travelling to Haridwar for a holy dip.
The accident occurred on the Dehradun–Panchkula Highway in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district when a speeding Bolero SUV reportedly rammed their car from behind. The impact left seven people injured, four of whom succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased include an elderly husband and wife, their grandson, and another family member. Three other occupants sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Police reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the crash and launched rescue operations. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, while the injured were admitted for medical care.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and are examining the circumstances that led to the collision.
