GNDU Final Inter-Zonal Youth Festival kicked off with the beats of Dhol

AMRITSAR: The final Youth festival of the Guru Nanak Dev University started with beats of dhol and teams competing for coveted position in Bhangra. After completing a series of six zonal youth festivals through October & November, this is the inter-zonal Youth festival where winner teams shall further represent Guru Nanak Dev University in inter-varsity North Zone Youth festival.

Prof Hardeep Singh Dean Academic affairs was the guest of honour and Prof Anish Dua, Dean students Welfare lighted the lamp. The festival shall continue till 10th December where winner teams from 80 different institutes shall compete in the fields of Dance, Music, Theatre, Fine Arts and Literary events. The Festival is being organised by the Youth Welfare Department of the Guru Nanak Dev University. Prof Anish Dua, Incharge and Dr Baljit Singh Sekhon, Advisor to the Youth Welfare Department in their seamless coordination are executing these festivals.

Dr Tejwant Kang, the convenor of these festivals along with other mentor teachers & volunteers are offering this festival to students from different colleges & University campus. This shall be a memorable experience for thousands of students in their future years. Excellent spirit of the participating teams, critical remarks of the judges and the support of wonderful audience are making these festivals a fresh dose of vibrance after a long period of silence, due to COVID pandemic.

The festivals have the patronage of Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor of the University who in every possible way is steering this institution towards excellence.

On first the day of the festival, the comepitions of Bhangra, Vaar Singing, Kawishri, Folk Orchestra were organized and Group Shabad/Bhajan & Group Song Inadian were organized on the stage of Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium. The competions of Classical Instrumental (Percussion), Classical Instrumental (Non-Percussion) were held on the stage of Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan Auditorium

On December 8, 2021 the competitions of Costume Parade, Mimicry, Classical Dance, General Dance will be organized in the Dashmesh Auditorium and Geet/Gazal, Folk Song will be held in the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium. In the Conference Hall, the competitions of Poetical Symposium, Elocution, and on the Archtecture Department Stage Painting on the Spot, Cartooing, On the Photography, Clay Modeling, Installation, competitions will be organized.

On December 09, 2021 In the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University, the competitions of Skit, MIME, One Act Play, will be held and Western Vocal Solo, Western Instrumental & Western Group Song will be organized in the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium. On the stage of Architecture Department, Rangoli, Phulkari, Mehndi competitions and in the Confernece Hall, the competitions of Quiz will be held. On the stage of Dasmesh Auditorium the competitions of Gidha will be organized after that prize distribution function will be held on December 10.
