A case of missing gold jewellery has surfaced from a locker at a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch located at Mai Hira Gate in Jalandhar. The complainant, Jatinder Chadha, a resident of Sat Nagar, has alleged that around 7 tolas of gold ornaments have gone missing from his locker, with an estimated value of nearly ₹10 lakh.

According to Chadha, he had stored the jewellery in locker number 336 back in 2007 for safekeeping. The ornaments were originally gifted to his wife by his mother in 2000. His mother passed away in 2005. He stated that during his last visit on April 13, the jewellery was intact. However, when he recently visited the locker to deposit additional valuables, he discovered that 6 to 7 tolas of gold jewellery were missing.

Following the discovery, Chadha approached the bank manager, who advised him to submit a written complaint. The victim has alleged that the bank management is refusing to take responsibility, with staff claiming that the customer is accountable for the contents of the locker.

The bank manager reportedly informed that there are no CCTV cameras installed inside the locker area. However, he assured that the matter would be escalated to higher authorities.

Upon receiving the complaint, police reached the spot and have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident. Authorities are now probing the circumstances under which the jewellery went missing.
