Gold prices registered a fresh increase on Thursday, July 30, according to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 24-carat gold rose by ₹177 per 10 grams, taking it to ₹1.42 lakh.

In contrast, silver prices declined by ₹789 per kilogram, bringing the rate down to ₹2.17 lakh per kg.

The bullion market has witnessed sharp fluctuations throughout 2026. Gold prices have increased by nearly ₹9,000 per 10 grams since the beginning of the year. On December 31, 2025, 10 grams of gold was priced at around ₹1.33 lakh, which has now climbed to ₹1.42 lakh.

Silver, however, has moved in the opposite direction. The metal was priced at ₹2.30 lakh per kg at the end of 2025, but has now fallen to ₹2.17 lakh, reflecting a decline of about ₹13,000 per kg.

Despite the recent correction, both precious metals had touched record levels earlier this year. On January 29, gold hit an all-time high of ₹1.76 lakh per 10 grams, while silver surged to ₹3.86 lakh per kg.

Market experts say that changing global economic conditions, interest-rate expectations, currency movements, and fluctuations in international bullion demand continue to influence domestic gold and silver prices.
