In a major announcement for women across Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that around 40 lakh women in the state will start receiving money in their bank accounts from Friday, August 1, under the Mawan Dhiya Samman Yojana.
Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing the devotional program “Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam” held at the Dussehra Ground in Sector 79, Mohali.
Mann said that from August 1, the mobile phones of nearly 40 lakh women would once again ring with payment alerts as the scheme’s financial assistance is credited to their accounts.
He also announced new Punjab Roadways bus services from Mohali to Khatu Shyam, Salasar Dham, Rishikesh and Haridwar, which will begin operating from Saturday, August 1. The Chief Minister said the initiative is aimed at helping devotees, especially those who are unable to undertake religious journeys due to financial or other difficulties.
“There is no greater pilgrimage than enabling elderly people to undertake a pilgrimage,” he said.
Praising Punjab’s culture and tradition of communal harmony, Mann stated that there is no place for those who try to sow seeds of hatred in Punjab. He emphasized that people of all religions in the state celebrate festivals and religious events together in a spirit of brotherhood.
During his address, the Chief Minister also highlighted the state government’s public welfare initiatives, saying that tax revenue collected from the people is being spent on schools, hospitals, roads and social welfare schemes for the benefit of the public.
