A youth was brutally shot dead in an alleged gangwar incident in Haryana’s Jhajjar district late Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Hitesh alias Gullu, a resident of Subana village.

According to police, Hitesh was standing outside his house and talking on his mobile phone when a Bolero vehicle suddenly stopped near him. Before he could react, 3 to 4 armed assailants stepped out of the vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire on him.

Witnesses said nearly 20 to 25 rounds were fired at the scene. Hitesh suffered multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. After carrying out the attack, the accused fled from the area while brandishing weapons, leaving the village in a state of panic.

Police teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene. Initial investigation suggests that the murder was linked to an old rivalry and is being treated as a suspected gangwar case.

Officials said one accused has been identified as Dakesh Kumar, a resident of Girdharpur village. Police revealed that members of the victim’s side had allegedly opened fire on the accused a few days ago, pointing towards an ongoing feud between the two groups.

Raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects, while investigators are also trying to determine whether both sides are linked to rival gangs and what led to the violent attack.
