Haryana government has announced a ₹10 lakh award for the best-performing School Management Committee (SMC) in every block of the state. The prize money will be used exclusively for the development of government schools, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced during a state-level interaction with SMC members on Sunday.
During the event, the Chief Minister also launched the SACH (School Assessment and Checking Hub) Portal, a digital platform designed to evaluate government schools and assess the performance of School Management Committees. Outstanding committees will be selected through this portal.
Government has also expanded the financial powers of SMCs. Committees can now independently spend up to ₹1 lakh on urgent school maintenance works such as repairing drinking water tanks, toilets, boundary walls, and other essential infrastructure. For larger development projects, they can utilize up to ₹25 lakh after obtaining approval from the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC).
Through video conferencing, CM Saini interacted with School Management Committees from one government school in each district. He reviewed key aspects including school cleanliness, drinking water facilities, toilets, sports infrastructure, student enrolment, board examination results, the Super-100 and Buniyaad programs, student selections to IITs and IIMs, achievements in national and state-level sports, parent-teacher meetings, and SMC functioning.
Chief Minister also urged schools to intensify plantation drives and encourage every student to plant a tree under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign. He further directed officials to carry out regular inspections of government schools to ensure quality education and better infrastructure.
