Light rain has been lashing Chandigarh since Wednesday morning, causing waterlogging, road damage and traffic disruptions across several parts of the city.
A portion of the road in Sector 26 has caved in following the rainfall. Several roads remained waterlogged in the morning, leading to traffic congestion, particularly outside PGI.
Heavy rain has also damaged a stretch of the road near Chandi Path towards Sector 29. In Sector 22, water entered shops at the popular mobile market, disrupting business activities.
Traffic jams were reported at several major intersections across Chandigarh. A road has also been damaged near the Sector 9/10 light point towards Sector 9.
Meanwhile, increased water flow has been reported in the Patiala Rao river, which passes through Nayagaon, Chandigarh and Mohali, following heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh.
The continuing rain has raised concerns over further waterlogging, road damage and traffic disruptions in the Tricity.
