Heavy rain was recorded in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, amid an orange weather alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The rainfall has disrupted normal life across the state, with 105 roads blocked due to rain and landslides as of 10 am on Tuesday.

According to the latest information, 36 electricity transformers and 15 water supply schemes have also been affected. Kullu and Mandi districts have reported the highest number of road blockages.

In Lahaul-Spiti, a cloudburst at Gauri Nala in Chokhang caused a major disruption on the Chokhang-Nainagahar road. Around 400 metres of the road was washed away, bringing vehicular movement to a halt.

Incident occurred late Monday evening, following which the Public Works Department (PWD) began restoration work on Tuesday morning.

The road blockade has also affected devotees travelling towards Neelkanth and farmers transporting vegetable produce from the area. With the vegetable season currently at its peak in the valley, local residents have urged authorities to restore the road at the earliest.

Mooring panchayat pradhan Sandeep Pujara said that vegetable transportation is in full swing and the road needs to be reopened quickly to prevent losses to farmers.

Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhadana said that a portion of the road was washed away following the cloudburst and that restoration efforts were underway
