The active monsoon and western disturbance brought heavy rainfall to several districts of Punjab on Tuesday, while other parts of the state received light to moderate showers. Chandigarh recorded the highest rainfall.

According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, some districts of Punjab may receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday as well. However, weather conditions are expected to improve from August 20, with no significant rainfall likely across the state until August 24. The monsoon is expected to become active again from August 25, which could lead to another spell of heavy rainfall in Punjab.
Chandigarh recorded 72.7 mm of rainfall till 6:30 pm. Rain began after 3 pm and continued through the evening. Pathankot received 56.8 mm, SBS Nagar 48.6 mm, Ludhiana 37.9 mm, Hoshiarpur 33.5 mm, Mohali 18.7 mm and Gurdaspur 9.8 mm of rainfall. Weather remained largely clear in the other districts.
