Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that if the Governor has decided to reduce the number of vehicles in his convoy, it is a welcome step. However, he added that the state government had already been implementing several cost-cutting measures to reduce expenditure and strengthen the economy.

Speaking to the media after a meeting with the trade body during the Municipal Corporation election campaign in Mandi on Wednesday evening, the Chief Minister said that he himself travels in a small electric car, which is more economical than petrol vehicles.

Sukhu stated that the government had already reduced the number of vehicles in his convoy as well as in the convoys of ministers. He further said that ministers’ salaries had been temporarily reduced by 30 percent, while MLAs’ salaries had been cut by 20 percent.

The Chief Minister asserted that these efforts are helping Himachal Pradesh move towards economic self-reliance and financial stability.
