Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda has achieved a significant milestone in healthcare by successfully conducting its first kidney transplant. This achievement, announced by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman R.S. Bali, marks a new chapter in the medical college's history.
The successful kidney transplant was performed by the dedicated team of doctors at Tanda Medical College, significantly benefiting local patients who no longer need to travel to PGI or AIIMS for such procedures. The treatment will be provided free of charge under the Himcare and Ayushman Yojana schemes, ensuring accessible healthcare for all.
R.S. Bali praised the relentless efforts of the state's Chief Minister, whose continuous feedback and support were crucial in realizing this milestone. He also extended his gratitude to the doctors at PGI for their invaluable support.
In addition to the kidney transplant facility, the medical college already offers heart piercing and valve transplant services, further solidifying its reputation as a leading healthcare institution. The next goals include introducing open-heart surgery and a state-of-the-art trauma center, reflecting the government’s commitment to providing high-level healthcare services.
The Nursing School at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College has been upgraded to a Nursing College, and plans are underway to establish a Lactation Management Center to support breastfeeding mothers and infants.
Principal Dr. Milap Sharma attributed the success of the kidney transplant to the continuous efforts of R.S. Bali and the dedicated team at Tanda Medical College.
