Canada’s Halton Regional Police Service has arrested a 25-year-old Indian-origin man, Mandeep Singh, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Burlington. Police have charged him with two counts of sexual assault and have released his photograph and description publicly, saying investigators believe there may be additional victims.
According to police, the incident took place at around 5:15 p.m. on June 16, 2026, in the south parking lot of the Burlington GO Station. Investigators allege that Singh, who was working as a rental vehicle driver at the time, approached a woman and started a conversation with her.
Police say that during the interaction he allegedly sexually assaulted the woman. The woman then left the area and walked toward a nearby store, but the accused allegedly followed her there and committed a second sexual assault near the store.
Authorities said the woman did not suffer any physical injuries during the incident.
Following the complaint, the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit launched an investigation. During the probe, investigators identified the suspect and arrested Mandeep Singh of Etobicoke on July 26, 2026. He was charged with two counts of sexual assault and was later held in judicial custody pending a bail hearing.
Police said the accused was working as a rental vehicle driver at the time of the alleged offences, which has raised concerns that other individuals may also have had contact with him. Investigators are urging anyone with information related to the case, or anyone who believes they may have been victimized by the accused, to contact the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit. Information can also be provided anonymously.
In its statement, Halton Regional Police emphasized that any touching without a person’s consent may constitute sexual assault. The offence can range from unwanted touching to more serious sexual crimes.
Police also noted that there is no time limit for reporting sexual assault cases in Canada. Even if an incident occurred in the past, victims can still file a complaint and request an investigation.
Authorities added that support services are available for victims of violence and sexual assault, and encouraged anyone in need of assistance to come forward and seek help.
