An IndiGo flight from Goa to Delhi made an emergency landing in Goa on Tuesday after a technical issue was reported in one of its engines, according to sources. The Air Traffic Control (ATC) temporarily declared a full emergency as the aircraft was turned back to the airport for a safe landing.
IndiGo flight 6E 2102 departed from Goa at around 9:16 am. Shortly after takeoff, the crew reported an issue with one of the aircraft's engines, following which the flight began returning to Goa.
According to sources, ATC declared a full emergency at around 9:30 am as the aircraft was being diverted back to the airport. The plane landed safely on Runway 28 at 9:51 am and was completely parked at Stand 6.
The full emergency was called off by Air Traffic Services (ATS) at around 10:03 am. All passengers safely disembarked from the aircraft and were accommodated in the boarding area.
Data from aviation tracker Flightradar24 showed that the aircraft was returning to Goa from the coast of southern Maharashtra. It was flying at an altitude of around 14,000 feet while turning back towards the airport.
The flight's departure to Delhi has now been rescheduled to around 3:30 pm, subject to aircraft clearance and operational requirements. Further details about the nature of the engine problem were not immediately available.
