The Panchkula Police Crime Branch, Sector-26 has taken major action against an interstate heroin smuggling network, arresting three accused from Punjab’s Fazilka district.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mahindra Singh alias Mindi, Jaswinder Singh alias Chindi, and Rakesh alias Armaan alias Ramesh. All three are residents of Fazilka district.
According to officials, the accused have been arrested in connection with a case under the NDPS Act involving the recovery of 3.89 kg of heroin along with a large amount of drug money. With these arrests, the total number of accused held in the case has risen to five.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Arvind Kamboj said that on April 5, 2026, the Crime Branch Sector-26 Panchkula team, led by Inspector Dalip Singh, acted on a tip-off and arrested Lovjot Singh alias Lov near a cremation ground in Sector-20, Panchkula.
During the search, police recovered 3.89 kg heroin packed in six packets, two mobile phones, and ₹14 lakh in drug money from his possession. Later, based on his disclosure, an additional ₹1 lakh earned from drug sales was recovered from his rented accommodation in Chandigarh.
Police said the investigation is ongoing to trace the wider network and identify other links involved in the interstate drug trafficking module.
