Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested two alleged drug smugglers and recovered 5 kilograms of heroin along with ₹1.50 lakh in suspected drug money during a special operation in the city.
According to police, the accused were on their way to supply narcotics in Jalandhar when the CIA Staff received a secret tip-off about their movement. Acting swiftly, the police team set up a checkpoint and intercepted the suspects, leading to the recovery of the contraband and cash.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dilpreet Singh and Kamaldeep Singh, both residents of Phillaur. A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Cantonment Police Station.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward links of the drug network. Jalandhar Police Commissioner Satinder Singh is expected to address a press conference shortly and share additional details regarding the operation.
The successful seizure is being viewed as a major blow to the drug trafficking network operating in the region.
