Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has arrested a man as part of its ongoing crackdown on the illegal sale of liquor and other unlawful activities. Police said illegal liquor, hookah equipment, ₹10.71 lakh in cash, electronic devices and gold jewellery were recovered from his possession.
The action was carried out on the directions of Jalandhar Police Commissioner Satinder Singh. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ADCP Zone-2 Madhvi Sharma and ACP West Atish Bhatia by a team from Basti Bawa Khel police station headed by Inspector Jai Inder Singh.
According to police, on August 30, 2026, SI Balwinder Singh was present with a police party when information was received through a source of Excise Inspector Manjit Singh. Acting on the information, the police arrested Tarsem Singh alias Sema.
During the search, police recovered eight bottles of Black Label whisky, 10 bottles of Ballantine whisky and four bottles of Jameson whisky. Three hookah chilams and three hookah pipes were also seized.
Police further recovered ₹10,71,990 in Indian currency from a bag. Other seized items included an Apple mobile phone, an Apple tablet, a Samsung mobile phone, a Samsung keypad phone, a Vivo mobile phone, two gold earrings and four gold rings.
A case has been registered under relevant sections, including the Excise Act, and further investigation is underway. Police are questioning the accused to determine the source of the cash and other recovered items and to establish links with the alleged illegal liquor supply network.
