Indian shooting fraternity has been struck by another tragic loss as Shyama Devi Rana, mother of legendary shooter and coach Jaspal Rana, passed away at the age of 78 in New Delhi. She breathed her last at an Army hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment.

According to family sources, Shyama Devi's health deteriorated significantly after the death of her son, Jaspal Rana, on June 12. Unable to recover from the emotional shock, her condition worsened over the following days before she succumbed while under medical care.

Shyama Devi was the wife of Dronacharya Awardee and former Uttarakhand Sports Minister Narayan Singh Rana. Her passing has deepened the grief within the Rana family, which has made immense contributions to Indian shooting and sports administration.
