CHANDIGARH: Almost a month after the post fell vacant, the Ministry of law and justice on thursday notified the appointment of justice Krishna Murari as chief justice of the Punjab & Haryana high court. He will be administered the oath on saturday.

His name had been cleared for evaluation last month. The previous incumbent, Justice SJ Vazifdar, had retired on may 3. The next seniormost judge,Justice AK Mittal, has been offencing as the chief justice.

A senior judge of the Allahabad HC, Justice Murari hails from a family of lawyers and specialises in company matter and consolidation cases. He was made an additional judge in 2004 and a permanent judge in 2004 and a permanent judge a year later.
