Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce the price of E20 petrol, arguing that the fuel delivers lower mileage and should therefore be priced lower. He also said he has sought an appointment with the Prime Minister to discuss the issue.

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said he had requested the Prime Minister to consider a reduction in E20 fuel prices, claiming that consumers are not getting the same fuel efficiency as with conventional petrol.

"I have requested Prime Minister Modi that E20 petrol prices should be reduced because its mileage is lower. I have also sought time to meet him," Kejriwal said. He further urged people who are affected by the issue to share videos of their experiences on social media, saying public pressure would be necessary for the government to respond.

Kejriwal also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, accusing the Centre of ignoring public concerns over E20 fuel. In the letter, he said democracy requires the government to listen to citizens and claimed that vehicle owners across the country have reported reduced mileage and damage to engine components after switching to E20 petrol.

AAP chief also launched the "Stop E20 Petrol" online signature campaign, inviting citizens to sign a petition addressed to the Prime Minister. He alleged that the government was pushing E20 petrol without adequate preparation despite widespread complaints from vehicle owners about declining fuel efficiency, engine-related issues and rising maintenance costs.

According to Kejriwal, the campaign aims to amplify public concerns and press the Centre to reconsider its E20 fuel policy and pricing.
