Nearly 24 hours after an FIR was registered against educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, Patna Police had not arrested him. On Saturday afternoon, Khan Sir reached the Patna Civil Court to surrender and is expected to be sent to judicial custody following court proceedings.

Police teams remained deployed near his coaching institute from Friday night until Saturday morning, where a large number of students had gathered.

Officials reportedly avoided taking coercive action, citing concerns over law and order due to the crowd outside the institute. Although the number of students decreased late at night, Khan Sir neither surrendered nor was he arrested at that time.

Meanwhile, students associated with his coaching institute received messages on Saturday morning stating that Khan Sir would conduct a class between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. However, the class did not take place, and instead, he appeared before the court to surrender.

Patna Police once again appealed to students not to be influenced by coaching institutes and urged them to cooperate in maintaining law and order, stating that the investigation is being carried out impartially.

The FIR against Faisal Khan has been registered under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25(9), 27, and 35 of the Arms Act, involving allegations related to attempted murder and the negligent display or use of firearms.

According to Patna High Court advocate Alok Anand, the allegation of firing is against Khan Sir’s two bodyguards. He stated that if it is proven that the bodyguards fired on Khan Sir’s instructions, he could also be held liable under BNS Section 109 for abetment. If convicted under the applicable provisions, he could face a prison sentence of up to 10 years, while the Arms Act provisions may also carry significant legal consequences.
