A major security alert was triggered in Ludhiana on Friday after the District and Sessions Judge received a bomb threat via email warning of an explosion at the District Court complex during the ongoing National Lok Adalat.
According to officials, the threatening email was received on September 12 on the official email ID of the District and Sessions Judge from deniseseward01@gmail.com. The sender claimed links with the Khalistan National Army and Babbar Khalsa (Parmar-Canada) and warned that a blast would take place at 1:11 pm.
Following the threat, the police administration swung into action. Dog squads and bomb disposal teams were deployed, and a thorough search operation was launched across the entire court complex to ensure the safety of judges, court staff, lawyers and members of the public present at the venue.
The email also threatened violent attacks beyond the Ludhiana District Court and Lok Adalat. It reportedly mentioned the Mohali-Halwara Airport and warned of attacks on certain political leaders.
Soon after receiving the email, the District and Sessions Judge informed the Ludhiana Police Commissioner through an official communication and sought immediate security measures. Authorities were directed to strengthen security arrangements and ensure the protection of all individuals present in the court premises.
Police are investigating the source of the email and assessing the credibility of the threat. Security agencies remain on high alert as searches and verification procedures continue.
