A 36-year-old man was allegedly subjected to a brutal attack with sharp-edged weapons near a liquor vend located between Sidhra and Mangat villages in Ludhiana. The victim, identified as Veer Davinder Singh, suffered severe injuries to both his arms and legs and was later found lying by the roadside in critical condition.

According to the victim’s family, the attackers allegedly wrapped him in a cloth and dumped him on the Mangat-Sidhra road before fleeing. He reportedly remained injured on the roadside throughout the night.

The incident came to light around 8 am, when the family received information about the injured man. He was rushed to Ludhiana Civil Hospital, where doctors, considering his critical condition, referred him to PGI Chandigarh for further treatment.

Alleged Dispute With Liquor Vend Employees

Veer Davinder, a resident of Mangat village, is unmarried and lives alone. His parents have already passed away, and he works as a hairdresser.

His sister, Rajinder Kaur, who was present at the Civil Hospital, alleged that her brother had an argument with employees of the liquor vend two to three days before the attack.

She said that at around 10 pm, when Veer Davinder was passing near the liquor vend, the accused allegedly surrounded him and attacked him repeatedly with kirpans.

The family said doctors informed them that the victim had suffered fractures in both his arms and legs, while some of his fingers were severely injured. He also sustained deep cuts on several parts of his body.

Police Begin Investigation

ASI Ranjiv Kumar, who is investigating the case at Mehrban police station, said the police received information through the 112 emergency control room about a seriously injured man lying by the roadside.

A police team reached the spot and immediately shifted the victim to Ludhiana Civil Hospital with the help of a vehicle. Police are also questioning employees of the liquor vend.

The ASI said further action will be taken after recording the victim’s statement and establishing the circumstances surrounding the attack.
