Mansa district police have arrested two alleged associates of the Arsh Dalla gang and recovered five pistols and ammunition from their possession. Police said the accused were allegedly involved in supplying illegal firearms and are suspected to have been working for the gang.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vaibhav Chaudhary said during a press conference that the arrests were made as part of Operation Prahar. A police team was patrolling the area when it reached the rear side of Nehru College and noticed two men allegedly taking items out of a bag and placing some of them in their waistband and pockets.
The suspects were apprehended and identified as Amrit Pal Singh alias Jackie, son of Gora Singh, a resident of Ward No. 9 in Mansa city, and Kuldeep Singh alias Ghuggi, son of Karnail Singh, a resident of Moosa village.
Police recovered four .32-bore pistols along with 12 cartridges and one country-made .315-bore pistol from their possession. A case has been registered against the accused under the Arms Act at City-2 police station.
According to SSP Chaudhary, preliminary questioning revealed that the two suspects allegedly worked for the Arsh Dalla gang and sourced illegal firearms from Madhya Pradesh for further supply.
Police said Amrit Pal Singh already has three cases registered against him, while Kuldeep Singh has two previous cases. The cases reportedly include offences under the NDPS Act, Arms Act and robbery-related charges.
Police are seeking the accused's custody for further questioning to ascertain their alleged links with the gang, the intended use of the recovered weapons and the wider network involved in the illegal arms supply.
