A 34-year-old married woman allegedly died by suicide in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district after hanging herself at her residence. The incident was reported from Rathoha village in Chandyal Panchayat of the Balh Assembly constituency. The deceased has been identified as Kusma Devi (34).

According to police, information about the suicide was received at around 5:45 pm on Wednesday. Preliminary investigation revealed that Kusma was first found hanging by her mother-in-law, who raised an alarm and informed local authorities.

A police team rushed to the spot upon receiving the information. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination, while further legal proceedings were initiated.

Following the incident, the victim’s brother, Ravikant, lodged a complaint at Balh Police Station.

In his statement, he alleged that Kusma had been subjected to continuous physical and mental harassment by her husband Amit Kumar, mother-in-law, and younger sister-in-law since shortly after her marriage.

Ravikant claimed that the alleged daily abuse and mistreatment pushed his sister to take the extreme step. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
