A family dispute in Haryana's Hisar has reached the courts after a 35-year-old married woman allegedly left her husband of 20 years, married her boyfriend in a Rajasthan temple, and left behind her two children.
According to the complaint, the woman quietly married her alleged boyfriend in a temple in Dhanothi village of Rajasthan's Churu district while her husband remained unaware of the ceremony. The husband claims he learned about the wedding only after seeing posts and WhatsApp status updates shared by his wife's relatives.
The complainant, Manish Kumar (45), a resident of Jagan village in Hisar, told the court that he married Rekha on November 2, 2006, according to Hindu rituals. The couple has two sons, who have remained with their father following the woman's departure.
Manish alleged that in 2023, after he shifted to Ward No. 5 in Siwani, Bhiwani, for work, a man identified as Satish began frequently visiting their home. He further claimed that in November 2025, his wife left the house with her father and brother without informing him. He said he had filed a missing complaint at Siwani police station.
According to the complaint, on December 1, 2025, Manish came to know through social media posts and WhatsApp status updates that Rekha was marrying Satish at a temple in Rajasthan.
He alleged that when he reached the temple with his two children and elderly mother to object to the ceremony, members of his wife's family threatened him with dire consequences and forced him to leave.
Claiming the incident caused him severe mental distress, Manish filed a private complaint before the Hisar court through his counsel, Advocate Sandeep Sheoran, under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Ajitpal Singh has issued notices to Rekha, Satish, and several members of her family, including her parents, brother, sister-in-law, and sister Poonam. The respondents have been directed to file their replies by November 25, 2026. The allegations are part of the husband's complaint, and the matter is currently under judicial consideration.
