Panic gripped Chandigarh on Saturday afternoon after unidentified assailants opened fire at a medical store in Sector 11 near PGI, killing the store manager in a shocking daylight attack.
The incident took place around 2:30 pm, when three armed men arrived on a scooter and targeted Kumar Medical Store, firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. Eyewitnesses claimed the attackers were carrying automatic weapons and began firing indiscriminately as soon as they reached the shop.
According to initial reports, the assailants fired around seven rounds, leaving the medical store manager and the cashier critically injured. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared the manager dead during treatment. The condition of the cashier is yet to be officially confirmed.
Following the incident, Chandigarh Police sealed the entire market area and launched an investigation. Officers are examining CCTV footage and recording statements of eyewitnesses to identify the attackers.
Police sources revealed that the owner of another Kumar Chemist outlet in the same market had allegedly received threats linked to the Goldy Brar gang and had been provided police security. However, authorities have not officially confirmed any connection between the firing incident and the gang, stating that all angles are being investigated.
