In a fresh security breach, mobile phones continue to be recovered from inmates lodged inside the Central Modern Jail in Faridkot. During a surprise search operation conducted by jail authorities, five mobile phones were seized from different barracks.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered against three undertrial prisoners and two convicts under the Jail Act. According to the complaint submitted to the police, Assistant Superintendent Gurcharan Singh stated that regular inspections are carried out in the jail on the directions of the Superintendent.
As part of these routine checks, a search conducted on Sunday night led to the recovery of two touchscreen and three keypad mobile phones. The devices were allegedly found in possession of undertrial inmates Bhupinder Singh alias Sonu (resident of Moga), William Masih (Gurdaspur), Sukhveer Singh (Fazilka), and convicts Sukhraj Singh (Moga) and Sagar (Ferozepur).
Based on the complaint, City Police Station has registered a case against all five accused and initiated further investigation.
