Punjab Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Tuesday inspected the arrangements at Jalandhar Civil Hospital and interacted with patients during a special program. During the visit, 100 TB patients undergoing treatment at the hospital were provided free high-protein diet kits for one month.
Bhagat visited various wards of the hospital and spoke to patients and their attendants to take stock of the healthcare facilities being provided. He also directed medical officials to ensure that every needy person visiting the hospital receives quality treatment without facing any inconvenience.
The minister said around 100 TB patients are currently undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital. He stressed that medicines alone are not enough for a patient to recover from tuberculosis, as proper nutrition is also essential for strengthening the body and supporting recovery.
Keeping this in mind, the Punjab government has decided to provide high-protein diet kits to TB patients free of cost for one month. The initiative is aimed at improving their nutritional intake and helping them recover faster.
Bhagat said the Mann government is also running a large-scale campaign to make Punjab TB-free. Special Health Department teams are visiting different areas to actively identify TB patients. Once detected, patients are referred to hospitals and provided appropriate treatment and care.
He further directed hospital authorities to maintain a patient-friendly environment and ensure that healthcare services are delivered efficiently to all those in need.
