A controversy has erupted at the Civil Hospital in Jwalamukhi, Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh after patients were allegedly served moldy bread during breakfast on Tuesday morning.
The issue came to light when a young woman attending to a patient claimed that the bread contained visible mold and recorded a video of it. The clip was later shared with local media and circulated widely on social media, raising serious concerns about the quality of food being served to patients.
The viral video reportedly shows slices of bread with what appears to be fungal growth on the surface. Following its circulation, questions have been raised over the hospital's food safety standards and the overall management of patient meals.
At the time of the incident, around eight to ten patients were admitted to the hospital. According to patients and their family members, bread was served as part of the morning breakfast. They claimed that the food appeared suspicious before consumption, prompting them to immediately alert hospital staff.
Family members also stated that none of the patients consumed the bread after noticing its condition, and some reportedly preserved samples as evidence.
After the matter surfaced, the hospital administration took immediate action by suspending the contractor responsible for supplying the food. An investigation has been initiated to determine how the alleged lapse occurred and to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
