A surprising video from Rewalsar, a famous religious and tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, has gone viral on social media after showing a monkey carrying a small puppy in its arms while sitting on a tree.
The 1-minute-17-second clip, reportedly recorded three to four days ago, has become a major talking point in the area. The footage shows the monkey climbing a tree with the puppy, which appears calm and does not struggle throughout the incident.
According to local residents, the unusual scene lasted for around 10 minutes before the monkey eventually released the puppy without causing any harm.
Local resident Ajay Surya said the puppy was not a pet but a stray dog’s offspring. He confirmed that the monkey held the puppy for several minutes before letting it go safely, and no injuries were reported during the incident.
Although the episode ended without any harm, the viral video has raised concerns among residents about public safety. Locals fear that if monkeys can pick up small animals, young children could also be at risk if left unattended.
Residents say the monkey population in Rewalsar and nearby areas has been increasing in recent years, leading to frequent encounters and nuisance for people. The video continues to circulate widely on social media, drawing mixed reactions ranging from curiosity to concern.
