The southwest monsoon continues to remain active across Himachal Pradesh, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light to moderate rainfall in many parts of the state over the next two days. Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated locations in some districts.
According to the weather bulletin issued on September 4, heavy rain is expected at one or two places in Bilaspur, Kangra, Solan and Sirmaur districts on September 4. The IMD has also issued a heavy rainfall alert for Kangra and Sirmaur districts on September 5.
As per the district-wise forecast, most other parts of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall during the period. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, especially in areas vulnerable to landslides and waterlogging.
The weather department has further warned of strong winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph in Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts on September 4 and 5. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected at isolated places in the plains, low hills and mid-hill regions from September 4 to 6.
The bulletin also indicates that light to moderate rainfall may continue at a few locations across the state on September 6, keeping weather conditions unsettled in Himachal Pradesh.
