A tragic incident was reported from Jhalera village in the Sadar police station area of Una district, Himachal Pradesh, where a migrant woman allegedly attempted suicide along with her 10-year-old son. The woman died, while the child remains in critical condition and has been referred to PGI Chandigarh for advanced treatment.
According to police sources, the woman, identified as Babli, reportedly had an argument with her husband over a domestic issue on Wednesday morning. Following the dispute, her husband allegedly left the house.
A short while later, Babli and her son, Yuvraj, are suspected to have consumed a poisonous substance. As their condition began to deteriorate, local residents learned about the incident and rushed them to the Regional Hospital in Una.
Doctors at the hospital declared the woman dead on arrival. Her son, who was in a critical condition, was given initial treatment before being referred to PGI Chandigarh for specialized medical care.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and took the woman's body into custody for a post-mortem examination. An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances that led to the alleged suicide attempt.
Police officials said statements of family members and local residents are being recorded as part of the probe. Meanwhile, the woman's husband has reportedly been untraceable since the incident, and efforts are underway to locate him.
