Panipat thermal to earn Rs. 300 crores annually by selling ash

PANIPAT: The disposal of dry fly ash at Panipat thermal station has now become a source of income for the Haryana Vidhyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) and the department will be earning about Rs. 300 annually, said Jit Singh XEN Panipat thermal.

The dry fly ash at Panipat thermal will now be sold to Shree Cement at Rs. 152 per tonne The first consignment of ash was lifted by the company on
Friday. The sale of ash was done through e-auction. The maximum price was quoted by Shree Cement.

Earlier the ash was given free to a company involved in the construction of national highways.The transportation charges of ash
disposal were incurred by the department and now this amount of Rs. 500 crores will also be saved. Thus thermal plant will save the revenue to the
tune of Rs. 800 crores every year.


The disposal of fly ash will give much-needed relief to the villagers in the adjoining areas of the plant from the pollution. The government has appreciated this step of Panipat thermal plant authorities.
