A violent clash erupted in the Kot Atma Ram area of Amritsar on Thursday afternoon after a dispute over the parking of a Thar SUV escalated into a bloody confrontation involving sticks, sharp weapons, and gunfire. Two people, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Ward No. 42 in-charge Jaipal Singh alias Bau, were injured in the firing incident.

According to police officials, the incident took place around 1:30 PM when an argument broke out over allegedly improper parking in a narrow lane. ACP Ravinder Singh said the dispute started after Jaipal Singh’s son parked his Thar SUV in a way that blocked another vehicle.

A retired inspector, Tejinder Singh, who resides in the same lane, objected to the parking, leading to a heated argument between him and the youth. During the altercation, the youth allegedly called his father and brother to the spot.

Police said that within minutes, the accused arrived armed with a revolver and kirpans and allegedly attacked retired inspector Tejinder Singh. The confrontation soon turned violent, with both sides engaging in a fierce clash using sticks and weapons.

Firing From Both Sides

During the scuffle, retired inspector Tejinder Singh allegedly opened fire using his licensed revolver. One bullet struck Narendra Singh, said to be a customer present at the scene, in the leg. Another shot hit Jaipal Singh in the leg.

Police officials stated that firing took place from both sides during the clash.

Both injured persons were rushed to the hospital immediately, and doctors have reportedly declared them out of danger.

Police Begin Investigation

ACP Ravinder Singh confirmed that police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information about the firing. CCTV DVR footage from the area has been seized, and an investigation is underway.

Police have registered a case against both parties under relevant legal sections and further action is being taken.
