PATIYALA:PWD and school education minister Punjab Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Wednesday, said that the state government has decided to name the Patiala-Dakala road after ex-MLA Brij Lal Goyal, who tirelessly worked for the overall development of the district. The cabinet minister informed that local leaders led by Patiala MP Preneet Kaur had sent a representation to name the road after Mr. Goyal who recently breathed his last after brief illness.
It is pertinent to mention that Goyal was elected MLA from Rajpura in 1972 and was chairman of Punsup and Punjab Pashudhan Vikas Board.
Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has also given his consent to name the road, following which the PWD officials have been directed to install new sign boards on the said road. He added that besides honoring the efforts and selfless service of eminent personalities, the department has also been ensuring the repair and maintenance of roads.
Mr. Singla said that Punjab government is committed to improve the roads and other basic infrastructure in the state. "It is our endeavor to unleash the potential of various services and schemes so as to come up with state-of-the-art infrastructure in entire state by way of constructing roads, buildings and bridges," he added.
