Zirakpur Police arrested four youths after raiding a flat and recovering 30 grams of heroin along with drug-packaging materials. The police also seized an electronic weighing scale, silver foil paper, and other items allegedly used for packing narcotics.

The accused have been identified as Sahil, a resident of Ram Darbar, Chandigarh; Ajay, a resident of Vikas Nagar, Chandigarh; Aman, a native of Bijnor currently residing in Ram Darbar, Chandigarh; and Mukesh, a resident of Green Valley, Gholu Majra, Lalru.

According to police officials, the raid was conducted on Friday evening after receiving a tip-off that drugs were being sold from Flat No. 566-C in Sigma City Extension. Acting swiftly on the information, a police team reached the location and carried out the operation.

On seeing the police, the four suspects allegedly panicked and attempted to flee after throwing away polythene packets from their pockets. However, they were apprehended on the spot.

Following the procedures prescribed under the NDPS Act, the accused were informed of their legal rights before the seized packets were examined. Police recovered 8 grams of heroin from Sahil, 7 grams each from Ajay and Aman, and 8 grams from Mukesh, taking the total seizure to 30 grams. The contraband was sealed and taken into custody.

A case has been registered at Zirakpur Police Station under Sections 21, 29, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act. Police are now investigating the source of the heroin and the network involved in its supply, with the possibility of more arrests in the case.
