Punjab Newsline | Ludhiana

Punjab bandh called by the Qaumi Insaf Morcha received a mixed response in Ludhiana on Thursday. While several private schools declared a holiday as a precaution for students' safety, some schools and colleges remained open.

Police personnel were deployed at sensitive locations across the city to maintain law and order. Security was tightened at key areas, including Ghanta Ghar, Chaura Bazaar and other major intersections.

Traffic movement remained normal on National Highway-44, Delhi Road, Chandigarh Road and Ferozepur Road. No disruption to train services was reported till the morning, despite the Morcha's call to halt road and rail traffic from 7 am.

Attendance in government schools was lower than usual, as many parents chose not to send their children to school. Meanwhile, district education authorities postponed the school games scheduled to begin today by one day, with the events now set to start on August 22.
