A state-level Teej celebration was organised in Patiala Rural on Saturday, bringing together a large number of women and local residents. The event showcased Punjab’s rich cultural heritage, traditional colours and the vibrant spirit of Punjabi folk culture.

Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill were welcomed by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on their arrival at the celebration.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said Teej carries a message of happiness, mutual bonding, love and togetherness among Punjabi women. She said the festival is an integral part of Punjab’s cultural heritage and that such celebrations play an important role in connecting the younger generation with its roots and traditions.

She said the Punjab Government was organising Teej fairs in villages and cities across the state to preserve and promote Punjabi traditions and cultural heritage.

Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann also highlighted various initiatives of the Bhagwant Mann government. She mentioned the Chief Minister Health Scheme, Mohalla Clinics and the Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Scheme, saying these initiatives had received an encouraging response from the people.

She thanked Dr. Balbir Singh for making arrangements for the celebration and appreciated the attention given to the facilities and safety of women and families attending the event.

Dr. Balbir Singh said the Teej celebration reflected the spirit of “Rangla Punjab”, showcasing the colours of Punjabi heritage, respect for women and happiness among the people. He said cultural events such as Teej are important for preserving Punjab’s traditions and passing them on to future generations.

Traditional Teej colours, cultural performances and enthusiastic participation by women added to the festive atmosphere. Phulkari shawls, an important symbol of Punjabi culture, were also distributed among women.

Improvement Trust Chairman Harpal Virk, Mayor Kundan Gogia, Advocate Rahul Saini, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuprita Jauhal, Jasvir Gandhi, Suresh Rai, Charanjit S.K., Jatinder Kaur S.K. and Devinder Kaur were among those present, along with a large number of women and local residents.
