In a major disciplinary action within the Punjab Police, Fazilka Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gagan Ajit Singh has ordered the arrest of police employee Karnail Singh for allegedly planting narcotic tablets in a young man's vehicle during the investigation of another case.
According to police, the matter came to light after it reached the SSP, who immediately ordered an inquiry. The investigation allegedly found that Karnail Singh, posted at Khuikhera Police Station, had placed the drug pills in the youth's vehicle during a case related to a dispute involving a young man and a woman. Based on the findings, he was booked and arrested in the same case.
Police said the investigation is still underway, and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
This is not the first such action under SSP Gagan Ajit Singh's leadership. In recent months, several police officials and employees have faced action in cases linked to narcotics. Reiterating the department's zero-tolerance policy, the SSP said that no individual involved in drug-related offences would be spared, regardless of their position.
